There's One in Every Neighborhood

Most of the decorated houses in Georgetown look like this. Unfortunately, there are always a few scapegraces who don't understand the obligations that go with being rich and genteel. What's wrong with these peasants?

I take it the top picture, with the mobs of pumpkins crowding the stairway, is the way most of the house are? It's odd to me that piling up vegetable matter and then letting it rot on your stoop would be seen as classy. A pumpkin or two is cute, but for some reason, I find this huge display repulsive, suggestive of cloying fungal odors and fruit flies.

But, David, the servants will handle any unpleasant messes.
