Hôtel Solvay

The Hôtel Solvay in Brussels is an amazing realization of the Art Nouveau vision. It was designed and built by Victor Horta to serve as a private residence for Armand Solvay, heir to a chemical fortune. It was constructed in 1895 to 1900.

Solvay gave Horta carte blanche to spend whatever he needed to create a truly grand house, and he did not stint.

Horta designed everthing: furniture, carpets, light fittings, tableware.

Even the doorbell.
