People on Reddit Want You to Break Up

You'll probably have to click on it to read it, but "End Relationship" is way up and "compromise" is still losing in a landslide. Source.

Caveats - despite it's imagined relevance, Reddit actually only reflects a small percentage of Americans; it also skews heavily toward the 19-29 age demographic; it also skews heavily male; metrics also show it is primarily used for "entertainment" (the r/funny subreddit is the most visited), and the percentage of users going there for relationship advise is low; et cetera.

All of that said, if there's anything to take from this particular slice of information, I would take it as an indicator that in general people have become less willing to tolerate unhealthy relationship dynamics, and more willing to simply move on and try their luck with other people. That strikes me as a generally positive trend with regards to human happiness.

Now check out the zerocovidcommunity subreddit, it's really crazy. People will be like, "I've been married to a wonderful man for 50 years. We've raised a wonderful family, etc etc. Last week my husband admitted that three months ago he walked into a mostly empty store without a mask for seven seconds. I don't think I can ever trust him again, should I leave him" and all 120 responses are, "Yes, definitely"

Long time on Reddit, where I’ve found a compassionate group of people. By the time someone writes to Reddit or any ‘Agony Aunt’ there is a lower chance of a solution other than Therapy or Breakup. Posters have usually tried everything. However, in the updates, I see solutions that were sparked by commenters insights. Going to Reddit with your problems is a crowd sourcing gamble
