A Mesolithic Arrowhead from Sweden

Excavated from a peat bog; the photos show it as it came out of the ground and as it was reassembled in the lab. Note that Mesolithic Europeans did not make the lovingly crafted, well-balanced stone spear points and arrowheads found in other places. They did everything with sharp bits of rock we call "microliths." You don't need big, beautiful stone tools for most purposes. The people who made them were interested in them for other reasons than pure expediency -- beauty, status, spiritual potency, or some such.
