Jan Lievens (1607-1674) was a Dutch painter of the Golden Age, one year younger than Rembrandt, whom he knew quite well. They shared a studio for five years in 1626-1631. Other than that his career was so boring I can't think of anything to say about it. But he could certainly paint. (Portrait of a Bearded Man, c. 1630)

Young man in an oriental robe. Rembrandt also did a lot of this, painting people in fancy dress. Did the Dutch like costume parties? Or did painters just have these around for painting the Three Magi and the like?
