All cause mortality for white men. They're dying in Appalachia.
This is from the Atlas of United States Mortality, released in 1998 and one of our government's stranger creations.
That's for 1988-1992, but it has only gotten worse, as this more recent map shows. The gap in life expectancy between the longest- and shortest-lived counties is 20 years.
Smoking is a big factor, at a guess.
