Perperikon is an ancient Thracian city on a rocky hilltop in southern Bulgaria. The site has been occupied since the Bronze Age, but the oldest monumental buildings date to the classical era. The latest find from the excavations there is this medieval ring, 13th or 14th century, gilt silver with an obsidian stone.

The tombs of the local nobility in the classical era were cut into the rock.
