Minterne in Dorset, southwestern England, is an old property that has belonged to the Churchill and Digby families since 1620. Sadly the old house fell apart from dry rot and an entirely new and rather strange replacement had to be built in 1905. But the grounds -- 1300 acres of beauty, and in the center a fabulous Edwardian flower garden. Ben Pentreath was there two weeks ago, and he posted an amazing set of photographs. Some of these are his, including the one above; others random gleanings from the web. I wish I were wandering lovely gardens instead of sitting around here with a bad cold.
