I ended up clicking through because I saw more of Mononoke Hime than I did of actual mythology in the three cover images. I was amused to find Link, hero of Legend of Zelda, among the full gallery.
I also clicked through again to Smoking Ruins, Ms Wallace's full art blog. She seems to have a curious aesthetic sense with a broad pool of influences. I was particularly enamored by a set of images of a Colonial American short sabre (I'd class it as a hangar myself, but they're similar blade designs) with a simple but quite attractive hilt and guard, so it seems we share certain tastes.
...but I'm still not quite seeing the mythology angle. *laughs*
Maybe I'm just not recognizing the particular figures and legends depicted?
