Today's Headline: Most men would rather shock themselves than be alone with their thoughts

We did not evolve for this challenge:
In a study published in Science Thursday on the ability of people to let their minds “wander” — that is, for them to sit and do nothing but think — researchers found that about a quarter of women and two-thirds of men chose electric shocks over their own company.
And this was only for 6 to 15 minutes. The shocks were not especially painful, but on the other hand they were bad enough that most people said they would pay money not to be shocked again. Yet 12 of 18 male subjects shocked themselves an average of 7 times each.
