Lilies are to me one of the unjustifiable beauties of the world. Why are they here? What did we do to deserve them? They seem to me like things of fantasy, but they grow in my garden as easily as dandelions. Last night I was reminded of another unjustifiable wonder, fireflies. There are many others -- flocks of birds, lightning, shooting stars, waterfalls, ancient trees, the color of the sky. The world is a place of terror, pain, and death, but also of wonder beyond our imaginations.
