These glass bottles are at the Winterthur Museum in Pennsylvania. They are dated to between 1815 and 1835, and the curators think they were made in Ohio or Pennsylvania. I must say I have seen about a hundred thousand bottles of that period by this point in my archaeological career, and I have never seen anything like them. I am intimately familiar with the stuff that ended up in the trash dumps of ordinary nineteenth-century farmers and row house dwellers, but the upper end of the spectrum is mainly beyond my ken.
