New Resident in the Garden

That's Argiope aurantia, the black and yellow garden spider. First one I have ever seen in my own yard.

  1. As much as I find spiders perhaps the creepiest of creepy-crawlies, I do admire their work.

These spiders are beautiful, and the funky zig-zaggy thing they do in the middle of their webs fascinates me.

I had a gorgeous one on my tomato plants last year, for a time. This week, picking up some anti-flea pills at the vet, I saw one that must have had a leg-spread of 2 1/2 inches.

Your nature posts are always so vivid!
