Still Digging in Virginia

Recent pictures from my dig in northern Virginia. Above, digging more units in the area that has produced most of our finds.

A small broken spear or dart point made of a soft stone called argillite.

A hearth feature that turned up in the corner of one of our units. This is so dark and organic looking that I think it must be less than a thousand years old, 2,000 to 4,000 years younger than most of what we are finding. We are still uncovering this and so far it is more than 3 feet (1 m) across.

And a visitor who spent the morning in a little creek near the site.
