More Fieldwork

Back down at Quantico this morning. You can see in this picture that we are digging right at the bottom of the prism of fill that holds up the road that is going to be widened.

More nice artifacts coming out today, including this point base. This came from what may be a hearth feature that has been disturbed by roots, but on the other hand might just be a tree stump. Hard to tell sometimes. But if it was a hearth and the charcoal in the soil comes from cooking fires and not natural burning, then we should be able to date this; a guess would be about 2500 BCE.
