We just met a Navy environmental planner who grew up on a farm near La Plata, Maryland, along Zekiah Swamp, and she brought us this cookie tin full of artifacts found in her family's fields.
Spread out, it looked like this. At first this looks like a lot of random stuff, but actually 80 percent or more of it dates to the Late Archaic and Early Woodland periods, 2500 BCE to 600 BCE.
That big point is a classic Savannah River, 2500 to 2200 BCE.
