Petitioning to Secede

Among the rights guaranteed to us by our Constitution is the right to petition the government. I am not sure why anyone ever cared about his right, since the government retains the right to say no, but, well, there it is.

Since the election, groups of petitioners in 23 states have asked that their state be granted the right to secede; the Texas petition has 23,000 signatures. The Tennessee petition:

Peacefully grant the State of Tennessee to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

Apparently the Feds are obliged to offer some response to these petitions. I suggest a one word reply:
