U Camelopardalis

U Camelopardalis is an aging carbon star that ejects spherical shells of gas every few thousand years. This Hubble image shows the star surrounded by its ejecta.

A cameleopard is, of course, a giraffe, and now that I think about it I am going to launch a movement to bring back the old, much more evocative name -- cameleopards forever!
