Somehow
this feels to me like another one of those bizarre tricks life plays on mammals. According to this study, the way to get a mate in the first place is to have high testosterone levels:
“The men with the highest testosterone levels were more likely to become fathers by the time we followed up with them five years later,” said Christopher Kuzawa, a study author.
But
Dads who spend time with their children have lower levels of testosterone than single guys. . . the male virility hormone drops once a stable relationship is formed and slides again during child-rearing.
A setup that seems designed to produce turnover among the alpha males and therefore a complete lack of security for men.
