President Obama has made a speech saying that we are not pursuing regime change in Libya, saying that we don't want it and can't afford it:
To be blunt, we went down that road in Iraq. Regime change there took eight years, thousands of American and Iraqi lives, and nearly $1 trillion. That is not something we can afford to repeat in Libya.
Ok. But if we are not trying to remove Qaddafi, what are we trying to do? Bomb him to the negotiating table? Divide the country? I have to say that I really just don't get it.
