Russian archaeologists
have announced the discovery of a group of bronze age sites in the Caucasus mountains that they ascribe to a new culture. The sites were found by aerial photography and some of them have been investigated by test excavations. They seem to date to the 16th to 14th centuries BC. There has been some speculation on the net about Stone Henge-style monuments, but so far as I can tell this is based on circular features in some of the photographs that have not been identified as anything in particular. The thing above looks to me like a fortified village.
