The offspring of sperm donors seem to have conflicted views about the process. . . . But two-thirds think they have a right to find out the identity of their biological fathers, and to try to form a relationship with him. I consider this a bizarre fantasy born from the same part of the brain that writes fairy tales.I suppose other people were thinking along the same lines, because we now have the first big-budget film devoted to sperm donor children who seek out their father. It's a comedy called "The Kids are Alright," by Lisa Cholodenko, and it features Annette Bening and Julianne Moore as a lesbian couple whose teenage children find out that a rogue played by Mark Ruffalo is their biological father. Critics seem to like it.
