Ben read to me last night. I asked what he wanted to read and he passed over the stack of library books to pull out one of his old favorites,
Bones, Bones, Dinosaur Bones by Byron Barton. Except for the names of dinosaurs, he read every word, stumbling once over "have" and once over "and," a word against which he seems to have a personal block. He has a lot of the book memorized, which I suppose is how he was able to read "These are the bones of Tyrannosaurus Rex." But he was getting all the variations in sentence structure -- "we have" vs. "these are" -- so he wasn't working just from memory. It was very exciting, especially because it was his idea and he was excited about it. He wanted to show me that he can read.
