Frankly, these photos make me sad. Here in Minnesota we have a winter carnival every year--a point of pride in the Twin Cities--but nothing that is produced for this festival comes close to matching the artistic creations here.
That said, I'm not so unhappy to avoid the ten foot portraits of--is it the politicians?

You have to hand it to communists, they know how to mobilize the people for a really grand festival ;-)
